I’ve been in the unenviable position of analyzing the bonuses across several companies and I know first-hand money is distributed disproportionately and unfairly. If you perform well it’s your boss who will pick up most of the spoils. There is no direct work-to-reward formula in the corporate world; it is distorted by self-interest, internal politics, market forces, and greed. Corporate work is not fair and you have no control over how unfair your environment is or isn’t unless you decide to work outside the carpet-tiled trenches.
