I think this is the right attitude. I really think that most of us will not ever make any real money on Medium. However, it is a great place to increase your writing skills and build your portfolio (particularly if you are a new to the field). My freelance business has done very well since I began writing on Medium and I am grateful.

And if your have an article that goes viral...than even better.
